My final year project talks about the topic of loneliness amongst youths in today's world where connections happening with a touch of a button. My team and I question if these digital connections truly help and how they impact the youths of today. Based on research; both articles and first hand interviews, we gained more insight on the topic and realised that the issue lies in the environment youths socialise in. In high pressure environments youths tend to put on a persona to conform to societal standards which can lead to performative behaviour. These performative behaviours can then lead to inauthentic relationships which can cause loneliness. However in low pressure environments this need to conform is reduced leading to more authentic interactions which can foster healthier relationships. We have created Unavoideck an experience that allows youths to create connections in low pressure spaces that will foster more authentic connections which in turn will ease loneliness.
